HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 14 (ACN) The Cuban-Slovak company Proxcor S.A. was one of the participants that put the sweet touch to the 39th Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2023), held from November 6 to 11 at Expocuba.
As Zuzana Školárová, general manager of Proxcor, explained to the Cuban News Agency, this joint-venture company owns a confectionery factory, specifically cookies and sorbets in a variety of flavors such as butter, chocolate, vanilla, coconut, strawberry and cocoa, and plans to produce candies as of 2024.
For the general manager of this Cuban-Slovak company, the market in the Caribbean island is very demanding of this type of food.
It is an identity that represents Cuba and has European technology behind it, since the required machinery was transported to the central territory of Villa Clara to produce the candies, she said.
Some of the specialists are Slovakian, but most of the staff operating in the factory is from Cuba, and among all the workers there is an exchange of experiences so that the products have the highest possible quality, Školárová continued.
FIHAV 2023 was a great opportunity for Proxcor, because during the event they closed several agreements with Cuban companies such as Palmares, Gaviota, with some joint ventures and with the hotel group Islazul.
Školárová commented that these agreements are also aimed at exporting their candies to countries such as Venezuela, Peru, Chile, the Dominican Republic and Ecuador.
Proxcor S.A., established in the national territory since 2019, has its headquarters in Havana, but the factory is located in the municipality of Caibarien, in Villa Clara and is the result of the joint work between the Slovak company Proxenta Cuban Investments and Corporacion Alimentaria S.A. (Coralsa), from Cuba.
