Camaguey, Jan 3 (ACN) US activists with the Venceremos solidarity brigade ratified their position in this eastern Cuban city in favor of the lifting by Washington of restrictions imposed on US citizens to visit Cuba and have a first-hand look at the island’s reality.
Brigadista Lesly Calle said that Washington says US citizens are free as no other nationals in the world, but the truth is that they face restrictions in many aspects of their lives; one of them is the lack of opportunities to come to Cuba and see with their own eyes the ways Cuban society unfolds.
Calle, who works at the New York University, said to be so happy to have come for the first time to Cuba and for having met great people so proud of their history, their country and their revolution.
Every single year, the Venceremos brigade defies the US and brings its activists to learn about Socialism and Cuban reality.
The 71 activists visited places of economic interest, like organic gardens where the made their own contribution to local works, particularly the planting of vegetables.
The brigade arrived in Cuba December 27 and headed to Santiago de Cuba where they met the people and carried out different activities.
