Cuba and Argentina strengthen trade ties

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 15 (ACN) During the celebration of Argentina's National Day at the 38th Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2022), Ambassador Luis Ilarregui and Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca praised the trade relations between Cuba and Argenina—the island’s second trade partner in the region—which herald new businesses agreements and projects.

“This is the first time I come to this fair, and I am happy for and surprised at the number and variety of countries, products and companies, and it is great to see that the active Cuba that we all appreciate is making a strong comeback after the worldwide ravages of COVID-19,” Mr. Ilarregui said.

He also thanked his country’s Cámara Pyme for its presence in Cuba’s largest fairgrounds with a sample of Argentinian goods and services and highlighted the close, profound and friendly relations between both nations, recalling that Commander Ernesto Che Guevara became a leader in Cuba and was even its Minister of Industry in the early years of the Cuban Revolution.

Likewise, the ambassador After highlighting how much the pandemic affected a tourist country like this one, Ilarregui emphasized that in any case, the Caribbean nation is betting on this opening and on foreign investment, in which we not only want to trade with it but also to produce here, with the new project of family and extensive agriculture that Argentina has today with this country and also in other issues.

On his end, Rodrigo Malmierca remarked that Cuba is going through difficult times marked first of all by the U.S. blockade and its recent intensification but keeps working on the search for solutions, including the establishment of new partnerships with companies from friendly countries such as Argentina.
