Cuban central province expects to open its technology park during 2023

SANTA CLARA, Cuba, Jul 5 (ACN) The Villa Clara Scientific and Technological Park (PCT by its Spanish acronym) project, which is currently in the process of preparing the dossier, is expected to open during the first quarter of 2023.

Once the dossier is ready, it will be submitted for approval and, after being endorsed, the incorporation of the mercantile company can begin.

Edelys Saavedra Rodriguez, director of the Tecnosime Base Business Unit and coordinator of the management group, told the press that the aim is to achieve with this park an environment of innovation and collaboration, based on the integration of natural and legal persons, both Cuban and foreign.

She added that among the possible partners are many local industries and other government and industry entities in the territory.

The scientific and knowledge contribution -she commented- will be ensured through the link with the Marta Abreu de Las Villas Central University and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, from where all the research potential of workers, students and professors will flow to connect with the business sector.

To date, more than 40 strategic projects have been identified that will represent the starting point for the operation of the park, on a modern and environmentally friendly infrastructure, Saavedra Rodriguez continued.

The PCT will strengthen objectives towards the export of goods and services, the substitution of imports and foreign investment, which is why it is a key player in boosting the economy.

Villa Clara would become the third province in Cuba with a Scientific and Technological Park, only preceded by Havana and Matanzas(both in western region).
