LAS TUNAS, Cuba, Oct 24 (acn) Food production with ecological techniques and landscape values of Cuban countryside favor the spread of agricultural tourism in Las Tunas for the high season of international tourism, starting on November 1st.
Las Y de Calzadilla farm, on the outskirts of Las Tunas city, will start receiving visitors from Europe and the United States as a result of the inclusion of this eastern territory in tourist circuits.
With the opening of the service at the Hacienda, one of the most outstanding in the country by the use of sustainable production techniques, such offers are diversified in the province, formerly restricted to the optional packages of hotels located in resorts.
Customers visiting the farm can appreciate a work system in which chemicals are gradually eliminated and environment-friendly technologies predominate, Julio Calzadilla, owner of the farm, told ACN.
The producer explained that in the summer they were visited by several tour operators who were interested in landscape values of the area and results in production, and also made proposals to improve products.
The new method allows disseminating the working experiences in agro-ecological programs and will also provide income without large investments that will develop other areas of the estate, as a mini industry recently built, Calzadilla said.
During the last winter season, the Brisas Covarrubias hotel, main tourist facility in Las Tunas, opened the modality of agricultural tourism in the territory, with offerings that included tours of farms near the installation, to appreciate the agricultural labor and eat fruits and drink guarapo (sugar cane juice), prepared using traditional and ecological way.
