Havana to Host Post COVID-19 Summer Festivities

Havana, Jun 2 (ACN) Summer festivities usually held in Havana during July and August will run June 5 through August 28 as Havana along other Cuban provinces report increasing control of COVID-19.

Havana Government official Tatiana Viera told reporters on Thursday that local authorities have prepared and designed a program of attractive recreational, cultural activities for all citizens to enjoy while meeting all COVID-19 sanitary protocols established by the Health Ministry.

The recreational program, services and cultural activities have been backed by state and non-state businesses and provincial government and Communist Party authorities. The summer festivities will include arts exhibits, book sales, theater performances and a carnival in different open areas in town.

The government official pointed out that neighborhoods will be the main scenarios for the festivities, which will take its varied offer to plazas and parks in different communities.

Cultural actions will include the visits to local museums with expanded hours, and commemorations for World Youth Day and the 96th birthday of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro on August 12 and 13.
