Portuguese businessmen have Cuba in mind

HAVANA, Cuba, May 25 (ACN) Portuguese businessmen met with representatives of Cuban entities to state their interest in doing business with strategic and prioritized sectors of both nations.

During a visit to the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba (CCC) together with José Pedro Machado Vieira, Portuguese ambassador to the Island, the parties stressed their willingness to develop stronger economic links between the two nations.

CCC president Antonio Luis Carricarte described how Cuba’s updated Cuban economic model makes everything more flexible in terms of foreign investment and foreign trade in order to foster development, especially after the pandemic and in the midst of an intensified U.S. blockade, with the support of more than 3,000 new actors in production and service mostly organized in MSMEs.

After two years of COVID-19, this delegation is the fourth business mission to visit Cuba, as two groups from Italy and one from Argentina have already been here, he said.

While on a tour around the Mariel Special Development Zone, they claimed to be interested in business deals in the fields of real estate, food, industry, textiles and health care, according to CCC’s website.
