Travelers may carry up to 5,000 CUP when entering or leaving Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 14 (ACN) Upon leaving from or arriving in Cuba, an individual may carry a sum of money not exceeding 5,000 Cuban pesos (CUP) in cash, checks, bills of exchange, promissory notes or other payment or credit instruments used in international banking practice, according to Resolution 79/2022 of the Central Bank of Cuba (BCC).

The new norm also establishes that the import and export of demonetized pieces and specimens of Cuban pesos of a numismatic or patrimonial nature are subject to the specific regulations laid down to that end and prohibits the entry and exit of Cuban pesos in cash by mail, air and sea.
Pursuant to Cuban customs regulations, failure to comply with the provisions of this Resolution shall entail the penalty of confiscation, without excluding any other civil and criminal action as deemed applicable.
