SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Feb 3 (ACN) The Tropical Contramaestre S. A. Mixed Enterprise, the Honey and Wax Processing Plant, both in the municipality of Contramaestre, and the Oriente Pharmaceutical Laboratory, in this city, were recognized today for their contributions in 2021 in the assessment of foreign trade activities, foreign investment and international collaboration in Santiago de Cuba.
With workers and innovators who overcame technological difficulties and shortages of raw materials, the Oriente Pharmaceutical Laboratory collective fulfilled its export plan, diversified markets, achieved new registrations and took important steps in the productive chain to obtain bandages made of gauze from the Celia Sanchez Manduley Textile Company.
Its products have an impact on health, such as oral tablets (generic and natural), parenteral solutions (serums), concentrated solutions for hemodialysis and oral powders (oral rehydration salts).
Maria Luisa Bueno Oñate, head of the department of foreign trade, foreign investment and international collaboration in the territory, stated that at the end of last year, the production plan for exports closed at 72.8%, which was affected by the non-compliance in the value of twisted tobacco, Santiago de Cuba rum, raw sugar and aluminum scrap.
For her part, Ivon Garzon Borrego, deputy director of exports of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment ( MINCEX by its Spanish acronym), stressed the importance of developing the export potential, which requires market research and feasibility studies, that is to say, that what is produced should be in line with international demand.
Foreign trade in Cuba, she noted, has suffered the impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States government, with a worsening of that hostile policy, in addition to the world economic crisis resulting from two years of pandemic.
