French-Cuban Joint Project Will Benefit Havana River Basin

Havana, Jan 6 (ACN) France’s Development Agency and the Republic of Cuba signed an credit-line accord in Havana to finance a project for the cleansing of the Luyano River on Havana Bay, according to the Cuban Foreign Trade and Investment Ministry.

The accord establishes a 64-million Euro credit line, considered the largest one granted by the French Agency since its set up in Cuba back in 2016.

The document was penned by Cuban Foreign Trade Minister Rodrigo Malmierca and by the French Development Agency’s representative here Guillaume Graff.

The project, co-funded by the French entity and the Central American Economic Integration Bank and the French-Cuban Fund aims at improving the environment of the Havana Bay by building a new wastewater collector with modern technology.

The contract is considered a result of the willingness of France and Cuba to further expand economic relations, and step forward in the joint funding of projects that contribute to the island’s economic development, according to the Cuban Foreign Trade and Investment Ministry.
