Tourism in central Cuba reopens with new day trips

CIENFUEGOS, Cuba, Nov 10 (ACN) Travel agencies in the province of Cienfuegos have organized pleasant day trips for the Cuban family, in view of the reopening of tourism on the 15th of this month after the COVID-19 lockdown.

Varadero Beach, Coco and Santa Maria Keys and El Nicho natural park, among others, will be just some of the available destinations as of that day.

Malvis Oro Obregón, Havanatur Centro's marketing and operations specialist, explained at a press conference that El Nicho has been in great demand, since it is a very affordable package that includes transportation and lunch, in addition to the fact that now this beautiful spot in Cienfuegos boasts a canopy, a variant of nature tourism designed for people to propel themselves by gravity on cables suspended on a slope.

Oro Obregón added that one of Havanatur's goals is to expand its products with tours to Trinidad, Havana and, in a more distant future, to the province of Pinar del Río.

Ana Elvira Gómez Reyes, deputy director of Cubanacan Cienfuegos, said that this entity also offers capacities, with the domestic market as a priority, and promotes free guided tours. The agency’s sales promoter, Marlene Pérez Águila, stated in turn that for the rest of this year they have planned 12 tours, including transportation, to places like Varadero Beach, Cayo Coco the province of Holguín.

On her end, TRANSTUR marketing director Yasmina Tressord Guerra remarked that since October 29 the agency has provided transportation to Cuban vacationers who enjoy short stays in Varadero Beach and other resorts.

All the institutions and establishments in the sector that will resume their services hold a Most Hygienic and Safe Tourism certificate, which guarantees that customers will have a pleasant stay without the risk of COVID-19 infection.
