HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 23 (ACN) The President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, received on Monday afternoon the actor and director Danny Glover, who visits Cuba to participate as a guest in the twentieth graduation of students of the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM).
During the cordial meeting, they discussed the importance of promoting artistic exchanges between Cuba and the United States, based on existing historical and cultural ties. President Diaz-Canel expressed his concern about the negative impact that this sector has suffered as a result of the setback in bilateral relations, while reiterating the will to move forward with the broad sectors in the United States that favor its improvement.
The visitor was accompanied by James Early, director of Cultural Studies and Communication at the Center for Folkloric Life and Cultural Studies Programs at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C.; Allen Warren, councilman for the city of Sacramento, California; and Dr. Luther Castillo, a Honduran doctor who graduated from ELAM.
Cuba was represented by Noemí Rabaza, first vice president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, and Carlos Fernández de Cossío, U.S. general director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
