Granma Province will Inaugurate New School Year in Historic SiteBAYAMO, Cuba, Aug 29 (ACN) Students in Granma province will begin their 2018-2019 school year next September 3rd in the Demajagua Museum Park, site where Carlos Manuel de Cespedes started the armed struggle for Cuba's independence in 1868.

The activity scheduled to begin at 7:30am at the National Monument will have the participation of students from the primary school located in the community as well as teachers and main authorities of the Communist Party in the province.

According to Soldania del Pozo Laurencio, communication specialist in Education in the territory, in addition to officially starting the school year, the ceremony will also include the recognition of three professors with the Cuban Education Distinction.

The members of the Jose Marti Art Instructors Brigade of the municipality of Manzanillo will also be recognized due to their work during the past school year and summer months, she said.

The Museum Park and its surroundings has been under a process of construction of work that will benefit educators in the area as well as visitors and population in general as part of activities for the 150 th anniversary of the beginning of the independence struggles next October 10th.

Granma, which is one of the provinces that stood out in education during the 2017-2018 cycle will have an enrollment of some 130 thousand 500 students next September 3rd attended by over 17 thousand teachers.
