Future Health Professionals from Ciego de Avila Begin New School YearCIEGO DE AVILA, Cuba, Sept 4 (acn) The Jose Assef Yara School of Medicine in Ciego de Avila began their school year on Monday with over 4 thousand students that will become future health professionals.

This group is distributed in Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing and Health Technology in addition to Professional Technical Education in the specialties of Control and the fight against Mosquitos, Hygiene, and Epidemiology and Nursing.

This new school year also has a representation of over 200 foreign students from 65 countries as an example of the continued ties that unites Cuba with other parts of the world, said the Dean of the School Angel Enrique Batista during the opening day of classes.

He pointed out that all that are beginning their medical studies must understand that they must study to learn because that is the key of their success.

In over 30 years of work at the university, professionals have demonstrated the important role and quality of Cuban public health, not only inside the country but also abroad and this is the tradition we pretend the new students will maintain, said the Dean.

We have an excellent staff of professors and we hope to obtain the condition of a certified center by the national commission and that is why we are working so hard, he said.

It is a challenge and commitment to assume the responsibility of caring for other people and watching over their physical and mental wellbeing and it is a task that we must assume the best way possible.
