HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 26 (acn) At least 700 delegates from 25 countries will attend the 14th International Congress on Sugar and Sugarcane Derivatives (Diversification 2017) to be inaugurated today at PABEXPO fairgrounds.
Guatemala´s José Orive, Executive Director of the International Sugar Organization (ISO), will give the first conference of the meeting, engineer Arodis Caballero, president of the organizing committee of the event, told the press.
According to Caballero, most of the participants came from Latin America, including, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Dominican Republic, El Salvador and Uruguay.
DIVERSIFICATION 2017 will address issues related to advances in sugar technology, industrial efficiency, energy from biomass, alcohols and beverages, animal feed and sugar cane agriculture, said the official, also director of the Cuban Research Institute on Sugarcane Derivatives (ICIDCA by its Spanish acronym).
Caballero gave vital importance to the exchange between technicians, specialists, researchers and professionals of the sector, but also to the trade fair and in particular to the Business Forum on investments with foreign capital, export of products, services, equipment and technologies.
42 companies from 11 nations will exhibit at PABEXPO, fairground of the Havana Convention Center for fairs, exhibitions and other related events.
ICIDCA is the main promoter of Diversification 2017 which will run until June 30th.
