Havana, Cuba, Jun 12 (acn) The Nicolas Guillern Foundation will host a meeting of intellectuals on July 10th and 11th to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the 2nd International Congress of Writers in Defense of Culture, announced its organizers on Monday.
The institution will pay special homage to the important event held in 1937 in Valencia, Madrid, Barcelona and Paris, where Nicolas Guillen had an outstanding participation together with Juan Marinello, Alejo Carpentier, Felix Pita Rodriguez and Leonardo Fernandez Martinez.
The event also commemorates the 80th anniversary of the two books that represent milestones in the poetry of Nicolas Guillen who was Director of the Foundation.
They will also celebrate the 70th anniversary of what many consider the best work of poetry of the author: El Son Entero (the Entire Son) that has the most recognized poems that complete the work of his literary success, said Hernandez.
The encounter will include issues like the controversies between Eduardo Chibas and Pepin Rivero on the Spanish Civil War; Alejo Carpentier: Espana bajo las Bombas (Spain under the Bombs); and Impronta de Espana Republicana (Imprint of Republican Spain) of the life and work of Nicolas Guillen among others, explained the organizers.
The activities will be held in the Writers and Artists Association (UNEAC) from morning to afternoon.
