Museum of the Revolution to Exhibit Heritage Objects

Havana, Cuba, May 11 (acn) The Museum of the Revolution, located in Havana will exhibit unique objects with rich heritage value next May 18th , International Museum Day.

Niurka Orama, Sub Director of the institution that treasures a collection of over 8 thousand museum pieces linked to Cuba´s process of emancipation told ACN that the articles are linked to controversial events.

The exhibition will be held only on that day from 10am and the public can, free of charge, observe pieces that belonged to renowned historic figures, that despite differences between them, the most important objective was always to achieve and maintain the country´s sovereignty and wellbeing, said Orama.

Examples of what will be exhibited on May 18th is a shirt that belonged to independence leader Antonio Maceo, an authentic document that dates back to September of 1899, and a fragment of the door where Eduardo Garcia Delgado wrote the name of Fidel with his own blood after being wounded by the bombing of Ciudad Libertad on April 15th, 1961.

Orama pointed out that the fragment of the door was recovered by Cuban youth that surrounded Garcia Delgado and a day later was exhibited during an activity held on 23rd and 12th streets where Commander in Chief Fidel Castro proclaimed the socialist character of the Revolution.

Another valuable piece is an original letter written by Ernesto Che Guevara before leaving to Bolivia dedicated to renowned Cuban economist Carlos Rafael Rodriguez where he describes how much they worked in favor of the sector despite different criteria.

A jacket of the Bolivian army that accompanied the remains of Che allegedly placed on the legendary guerrilla when they disappeared his body.

Orama explained that once the reparation work on the museum is concluded they will have the necessary technical conditions to permanently exhibit these and other objects.

A concert is also scheduled by the Cuban National Choir in the Museum´s Dorado Salon at 2pm, an exhibition of the Russian embassy will also be inaugurated and another of painter, drawer and ceramist Kamil Bullaudy who has an extensive series of portraits of Jose Marti.
