Fraga Cedré mentioned that since the changes in access to higher education, through the modalities of Course by Meeting and Distance Education, has increased the enrollment and interest of the population towards the 23 careers of pedagogical profile offered by the center.
Moving the fulfillment of the traditional tests of income (Mathematics, Spanish and History of Cuba) to the first year of the race has favored the growth of the enrollments in the institution; So we insisted more on the self-preparation of the student and on his subsequent improvement, he said.
Referring to the novelties of the current school year, he mentioned the incorporation of the Faculty of Technical Sciences, where professionals were trained for trade schools and which has specialties such as Labor Education, Computer Science and Electrical.
She also meant the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the career of Pedagogy Psychology, a new figure that is inserted in any of the educational institutions and has the responsibility of orienting both the teacher, the student, the family and the community in general.
At the meeting, Ramón Cuétara, a consultant professor and historian of the university, said that more than 66 thousand 300 students have graduated from that center, the only one of its kind in the country.
In addition, he recalled the beginnings of the then Higher Institute, which in more than half a century of foundation, continues the work of the great masters of Cuban pedagogy like Félix Varela, Jose de la Luz y Caballero, the Apostle José Martí and the leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro.
