HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 13 (ACN) Days dedicated to Quebec was inaugurated on Sunday in Havana with the presence of the Cuban Culture Minister Abel Prieto during the International Book Fair underway at the San Carlos de la Cabana Fortress.
During the inauguration held at the Canadian Pabellion, Abel Prieto highlighted the common interest of a Cuba-Cuba cultural exchange above all, cooperation in the audiovisual sector due to the attractive proposals presented by the North American country.
Christine St. Pierre, Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs and the province of Quebec commented on the possibility of receiving Cuban artists that are interested in presenting their creations in Canada.
Referring to the Book Fair, she expressed being impressed by its size and quality reflecting Cuba's rich culture and literature.
During the days dedicated to Quebec an encounter with novelist, poet and essayist Maya Ombasic brought her children's book entitled A Day after Babel.
Canadiens Lourise Desjardins, Rose Eliceiry and Alexandre Belliard participated in the panel Quebec, Land of Poets.
A broad cultural program was also held with the participation of Patrick Leonard and the Boulay sisters, two French-speaking singers from Gaspesie, Quebec.
Over 30 authors and 18 Canadian publishing houses are present at the Havana Book Fair, which serves as a scenario for celebrations commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation.
