Cuban University Students Federation gets ready for anniversary

CIEGO DE AVILA, Cuba, Feb 8 (acn) It is necessary to mobilize the entire community of the higher learning houses to promote actions for the 95th anniversary of the Federation of University Students (FEU by its Spanish acronym), said Jennifer Bello, national president of that organization.

The presentation of the campaign for the FEU's birthday, to be held next December, began in Ciego de Avila and Mayabeque provinces simultaneously and intends to tour the country during the whole month of February and part of March to consult with more than 5 000 students the proposed activities and listen to their opinions, she said.
The also member of the Council of State also referred to the visual identity, led by students of the Higher Institute of Design, with posters, promotional spots and the logo printed on various media to reach the university public and the general population.
Part of the projections for this year are the rescue of traditions and the incentive to develop the most indigenous of the culture and its best exponents, with aesthetically elaborated products; a good example of this is Ciego de Avila´s 40 Mega theater group, multi-awarded at the last edition of the FEU Festival of Amateur Artists, she said.
She also pointed out that they are promoting the Memoria project, which aims to provide maintenance to the plaques and monuments throughout Cuba linked to the history of FEU, in order to ensuring their protection and creating a mobile application with their location and data.
Even if actions are coordinated and programmed as part of a national strategy, it is necessary each university to provide initiatives depending on the needs of each territory and its particularities, Bello noted.
