Education Forum in Cuba highlights regional unity

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 1 (ACN) The first session on Tuesday of the 15th Regional Education Congress Pedagogia 2017 opened with a panel that stressed the role of Fidel Castro as an educator and the need for regional unity.

Over 2000 guests from 40 countries are attending the event at Havana´s Conventions Palace, who were joined on Tuesday by the president of honor of the Cuban Pedagogy Association Lesbia Canovas; Brazilian journalist and theologian Frei Betto, Cuban journalist Katiuska Blanco and Venezuelan Education minister Elias Jaua.
The agenda also included key-note lectures on the role of the school in training teachers in Cuba and on concepts related to education in junior and high school, among other topics.
Participants also addressed the impact by the nearly-60-year US economic blockade of Cuba on Education and Cuban society in general.
The forum, which will wind up on Friday, includes panels, symposiums, debates and workshops on the regional education agenda till 2030 and the significance of the ideas of Ernesto Guevara in forming the new generations of women and men.
