HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 2 (acn) The Deputy Rector of the Russian Social State University Maxim Stepanov stressed in Guantanamo on Monday the need for more knowledge on his country´s language and culture.
During a master conference at the University of Guantanamo he praised the ties in the field and the benefits of the current bilateral relations between Cuba and Russia.
On November of 2015, Stepanov and Dr. Alberto Turro Breff, Rector of the University of Guantanamo signed a cooperation agreement between education centers on the occasion of the Havana International Trade Fair, FIHAV.
The agreement included the inauguration of both colleges for joint programs in a PHD in Sociology, Economy, Education and social Psychology.
The document contains the methodology assistance at the University of Guantanamo regarding the 7th most spoken language on Earth (295 million people) and the official language of 8 countries with a strong presence in another 10.
The University of Guantanamo will be the site of activities which will conclude on Wednesday on the occasion of the Day of the Russian Language in the Cuban Universities.
The event was sponsored by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, the UESR and the Cuban Higher Education Ministry which included conferences, talks, cultural exchanges, Russian film, visits to communities in Guantanamo and the inauguration of the School of Russian Studies at the UG.
The University of Guantanamo has signed international agreements with 22 foreign universities from 9 countries.
Due to the historic ties that unites both nations and bilateral relations established over 50 years ago, Russian education has remained in the studies program in some of the higher education centers and Language Schools in the country.
