Cuban Delegation to Attend Sugar Congress in Mexico

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 27 (acn) A Cuban advance delegation will travel to Mexico on Sunday to attend the 10 th Congress of the Association of Sugar Technicians in Latin America and the Caribbean (Atalac).

The group is headed by the Master of Science Eduardo Martinez, president of the Association of Sugar Technicians of Cuba (ATAC), which will also take part in the 38th Convention of the Association of Sugar Technicians of Mexico (ATAM), in its 70th anniversary.
The two meetings will be held from August 31 to September 2 at the World Trade Center in Boca Rio, Veracruz, the largest city in the Mexican state of the same name, the specialists of the Cuban group told ACN.
Martínez will be accompanied by Doctor of Economics Luis O. Gálvez, advisor of the Cuban Research Institute of Sugarcane Derivatives (ICIDCA), and José María Mesa, of the Sugarcane Research Institute (INICA).
The remaining members of the Cuban delegation will leave for Mexico on Tuesday.
INICA researchers will present, as authors, works related to biological control, genetics, herbicides against weeds and soil compaction.
Their ICIDCA colleagues will talk about factors affecting industrial performance, the masses of mills, the separation of dirt from mixed juice, global production of ethanol and of animal feed from molasses.
Representatives of the Sugar Engineering and Projects Enterprise will give details about a scheme of bio-refineries, as well as of administrative matters of sugar mills and the color-pol ratio in organic sugar or sucrose level of the latter.
An adviser to the Carlos Baliño sugar mill talk about the recirculation of the final sugar-cane syrup, and one of the "Panchito Gómez Toro", both of them from the central province of Villa Clara, will talk about sampling to define the quality of sugar in the sugarcane reaching industry.
ATAC, the oldest organization of Cuban professionals, will hold meetings with counterparts from Guatemala, Colombia and Costa Rica to sign technical cooperation agreements like the one signed five years ago with ATAM.
