Founder of Cuban Group Tambores de Bejucal Dies

Founder of Cuban Group Tambores de Bejucal DiesHAVANA, Cuba, Aug 15(acn) Cuban musician Robelio Perez (Yeyo), founder of the iconic group Tambores de Bejucal (Drums of Bejucal), died at age 85 in that city of the province of Mayabeque.

Yeyo was born on July 2, 1931, in Bejucal, and among prizes received we find the National Community Culture Award in 2006, the highest given by the National System of Cultural Centers.
Tambores de Bejucal has performed successfully in countries of Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and has obtained the prize Memoria Viva given by the Juan Marinello Cuban Institute of Cultural Research and the Prize of Honor in the 2014 edition of Cubadisco –Cuba's annual record fair and contest.
On the occasion of the 50 th anniversary if its creation, the group recorded the album 50 son 50 and now prepares its next CD, entitled Mozambique para Guarachar, dedicated to percussionist Pello the Afrokan and to Yeyo.
