Cuban Irene Rodriguez Dance Company to Perform in New York

HAVANA, Cuba, May 18 (acn) Cuba's Irene Rodriguez dance company will present its "Between lights and shadows" show on May 19-22 at the Joyce Theater of New York, the United States, the director of the group told ACN.

For the third time the company's dancers will tour the United States, and this time they will perform in one of the most prestigious theaters of that nation with five productions.
Works like Aldaba, Por bulerías, Dime! and Zapateos - where harmony of Spanish culture with Caribbean gestures is achieved- will be appreciated by the U.S. public.
"Between lights and shadows" is one of the best choreographic works of the company due to the incorporation of more contemporary and revolutionary techniques within flamenco, specified Irene Rodriguez.
The performance of the group in the New York hall is part of the program of Cuba Festival, a meeting to which Danza Abierta and Malpaso troupes have also been invited.
The Irene Rodriguez Company, one of the few in Cuba that cultivates Spanish classical dance, was included in 2013 in the Book of Honor of the Alicia Alonso Gran Teatro de La Habana.
Other shows like Coincidencias, Emigrantes and the Del clasico español al flamenco have been presented in major theater circuits of the island.
Prior to this tour, in 2014, they performed another one, which included visits to institutions such as the Montalvo Arts Center of Saratoga and the Molaa of Los Angeles, U.S.A.
