Cuban and German universities sign cooperation agreementsCAMAGUEY, Cuba, Feb 12 (acn) Muenster University of Applied Sciences, in Germany, and the University of Camagüey (UC) Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz signed a cooperation agreement to promote scientific, cultural and educational relations.

Ute von Lojewski, rector of the German institution, expressed his thanks and joy to Camaguey academic society, gathered at the headquarters of UC, and invited them to live this agreement, while proposing local teachers an invitation to complement their university studies, doctorates and masters degrees.

We are convinced of the contribution that the exchange of experiences reports for both centers, said Frank Dellman, Vice Rector for Education and Internationalization at Münster University, who spoke about the strengths of the institution he represents, highlighting the transfer of industrial technology and management quality.

As one of the most important and strategic fields in recent years, Dellman enunciated the promotion of intercultural skills of their students.

Santiago Lajes Choy, UC rector, predicted the success of this new partnership, which will help strengthening both universities through the development of joint research on national and world problems, in which Camagüey stands out in the branch of biotechnology and the application of computer software.

Contributing with science is number one priority of this exchange, Lajes Choy said.

Located in the region of Westphalia, north of the nation, the German university is home to nearly 14,000 students in a dozen faculties across four areas of study –Engineering, Design, Social Sciences and Economics, the latter with the largest enrollment.

UC gathers around 12,000 students in 10 faculties, 46 courses and its lines of research include topics of education, defense, biotechnology, information and communications technology, environment, Agro-industrial Processes, Energy, Housing and Construction, Tourism, Railways and Roads, Economic Development and Heritage.
