HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 27 (acn) The historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, has been given the Merit to Life Award by the pan-Arab channel Al Mayadeen, which was handed over on Tuesday in this capital.
Abel Prieto, advisor to the President of the Councils of State and Ministers, received the award on behalf of the Commander in Chief, in a tribute by the alternative Lebanese media held at Havana's Convention Center within the context of the 2nd Radio and Television Convention.

During his speech, Ghassan Ben Jeddo, founder and president of Al Mayadeen, welcomed the broad support Cuba received at the United Nations General Assembly during the vote against the blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean nation.
As ratified by the official statement, Al Mayadeen not only expresses its opinion, but also points out the conviction of millions of Arabs and hundreds of millions of people worldwide who love Fidel and take pride in belonging to the times of this man, fighter and revolutionary.
The ceremony was attended by officials of the Cuban Communist Party, the Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Radio and Television Institute, and other social and cultural organizations.
