HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 17 (acn) The Cuban Company of Irene Rodriguez, an exponent of flamenco dance, will perform on Saturday at the Moore Theater of Seattle, as part of a current tour of the United States.
On her Facebook page, the dancer and choreographer shared pictures of the rehearsals and a master class at a dance studio of Washington State's largest city.
Although the group has only three years of existence, it already has a prestigious international award won at the 8th Alicia Alonso Iberian-American Choreography Contest, and this is the second time its visits the United States.
This is one of the few Cuban companies performing the Spanish classic, which requires great virtuosity in steps and demands knowledge of both flamenco and the Bolera School and classical technique and folklore.
A presentation accompanied by a saxophone and work with the Cuban women's group Camerata Romeu, pianist Chucho Valdes and jazzman Aldo Lopez Gavilan are among Irene Rodriguez' dreams.
The Moore Theater, where the company performs on Saturday, is Seattle's oldest theater.
