HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 15 (acn) The Cuban music group Buena Vista Social Club, a Grammy winner, will perform on Thursday at the White House, as part of celebrations for the Hispanic Cultural Heritage festival this month.
As stated in Facebook by top Cuban singer Omara Portuondo –member of the music group-, the concert at the U.S. official residence responds to an invitation by President Barack Obama.
The program of the ceremony at the White House also includes a speech by President Obama on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the initiative for the Educational Excellence of Hispanics.
Also, Portuondo told her followers that, due to this event, the concert scheduled for Thursday at the Ikeda Theater -part of the band's international tour- will be postponed for October 21.
