HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 17 (acn) The Sixth Meeting of Culture Ministers of the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), concluded on Thursday in Havana with the ratification of Cuba as the nation coordinating Cultural ALBA.
The meeting, held at Havana's Convention Center, ended with a declaration adopted by the representatives of the 11 member countries of this regional initiative.
According to the official document, the Culture ministers ratified the commitment of promoting the cultural integration of Latin America and the Caribbean, encourage the active participation of communities in cultural processes, preserve cultural heritage and boost the development of creative economies.
Likewise, the ministers also called for the encouragement of a production of content that reinforces values and contributes to deal effectively with the products of the hegemonic industry that promotes a unique thought, frivolity and homogenization of models, consumerism, violence and discrimination.
We reaffirm our respect for cultural diversity in our multi-ethnic, multicultural and multilingual societies, where there are cooperation and the development of cultural policies that defend the respect for life, human dignity and the sovereign right of each of our peoples to build their future, specifies the declaration.
At the end of the meeting, it was announced that Bolivia will be the nation that will host the Seventh Meeting of Culture Ministers of the countries that are members of the ALBA-TCP, in September 2016.
