Cuban and the U.S. Educational Institutions Plan New ExchangesHAVANA, Cuba, Sep 8 (acn) Members of the chairmanship of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) met with directors of the University of Havana (UH) to establish guidelines for cooperation between the two institutions.

The Faculty of Law and the International Economics Research Center will be some of the entities of the UH in which exchanges would begin more immediately, along with the Marine Research Center, which has a long history of relations with U.S. institutions.
Gustavo Cobreiro, rector of the UH, thanked the delegation of the northern nation for the opportunity of contacting the best U.S. public academies, and highlighted that throughout this year the number of Cuban university teachers who have visited universities in the United States has increased.
The presidents and vice-presidents of AASCU showed interest in architectural and historic values of the almost tercentenary center of higher studies, which were presented to them by Claudia Felipe, director of Heritage of this entity of Cuban higher education.
The meeting served as a preliminary to the First Cuba-United States Meeting of Rectors, to be held on Thursday at Havana's Hotel Nacional.
