HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 1 (acn) Cuban soprano Barbara Llanes Mary traveled on Sunday to Costa Rica after giving two successful concerts in the Colombian capital, accompanied by the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of the guest conductor, Italian Francesco Belli.
According to a report by Prensa Latina, Llanes performed on both occasions to packed houses at the Leon de Greiff auditorium of the National University of Colombia, permanent headquarters of the Bogota group.
The soloist of the National Center of Concert Music was largely applauded for her interpretation of classic operas by Gaetano Donizetti, Vincenzo Bellini and Giuseppe Verdi, and for her performance of the traditional Spanish operetta Cecilia Valdes.
After her presentation in San Jose, the Cuban soprano announced that she will later give concerts in the Mexican city of Merida, in the Yucatan peninsula.
