HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 14 (acn) Cuba maintains a single cultural public policy, that one built by the Revolution through more than half a century now and it must be applied and met either in state or non-state scenarios.
The statement was made by First Vice-president Miguel Diaz-Canel during debates on the implementation of cultural policy in public spaces by the Cuban Parliament´s Commission on Education, Culture, Science, Technology and the Environment on Monday.
Diaz-Canel said that Cuban society is the only society that may solve the problems still pending in this area, particularly using its government capabilities from the base and with the democratic and plural participation that characterizes Cuban society.
But "with incoherence between debate and action we cannot deal with the inefficiencies we are facing in this area," said Diaz-Canel and added that one the one hand "we are very cultivated, and on the other we do not meet what has been established." He suggested that debates must go along with actions.
The Cuban first vice-president said that government actions and participation are needed, as well as finding spaces for the people to say what kind of activities they want and to evaluate what is done and join in the design of such activities. In this regards, he underscored the role of the family, the school, the community and particularly the institutions in doing their bit with such aims.
The Cuban Parliament´s permanent commissions are analyzing crucial issues of Cuban society prior to the upcoming session of the legislative body on Wednesday.
