HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 11 (acn) Nicaraguan salsa star Luis Enrique joined Cuban Alexander Abreu last night in the Avellaneda hall of the National Theater in a concert characterized by the strength of the Caribbean music and its roots.
The occasion for this meeting was the release of the new album of Alexander Abreu and his band Havana D´primera, La Vuelta al mundo, produced by the record label Unicornio.
Abreu opened the concert with the single that topped the charts in Cuba in 2014, Me dicen Cuba, in a exclusive duo with another Cuban star, Paulito FG, and the concert featured constant surprises with an impressive list of guest artists.
¨This album tries in a subtle way to rescue our traditions and find a way to make Cuban youth to identify themselves with the roots of Cuban son¨ Aberu said and dedicated the concert to late Juan Formell, founder and director of mythical Cuban orchestra Los Van Van, who passed away last year.
Nicaraguan Luis Enrique, in his first visit to Cuba, made the audience dance at the rhythm of his world hits Asi es la Vida, Yo no sé mañana and cambia, the latter along Cuban singer Carlos Valera.
Luis Enrique said it was a huge pleasure for him to share the stage with Abreu, an artist that ¨through music has shown me his great talent¨
¨This is a dream come true, and it is awesome you receive me with all this love¨ the Nicaraguan singer told the audience
Puerto Rican singer Olga Tañon, in her first visit to Cuba after starring along Juanes of the mega Concert for Peace six years ago in Havana, surprised everyone when she went up the stage to perform.
For almost three hours, the lucky Havana people who could enter the theater, danced for three hours with the hottest Cuban band today, and with foreign stars that couldn't miss the chance to be part of this historic concert
