SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Jul 10 (acn) With the traditional Burning of the Devil, the 35th edition of the Caribbean Festival, held since July 3, concluded on Thursday in the city of Santiago de Cuba, with the Commonwealth of the Bahamas as Guest of Honor.
Before the ceremony, the Fire Parade took place, which began at Dolores Square, continued in the central Aguilera and Padre Pico streets and ended in Market Square, where a crowd came to see the doll representing the maximum expression of evil burn.
Very attractive was the presentation of the Taka Tun conga dance of Germany, composed mostly of women, one of them a specialist in Chinese bugle, who gave a special demonstration of Santiago's rhythm and showed that culture has no borders.
During the burning ceremony, preceded by drum beating, many participants offered their prayers and made gestures, in the belief that this ritual could make evil spirits go away and good things for the city and the lives of its inhabitants be attracted.
Next year's edition of the Fire Fiesta will be dedicated to Costa Rica.
