HAVANA , Cuba, Jan 12 (can) Cuban singer Carlos Varela will mark today his three decades of artistic life with a big concert at the Avellaneda Hall in the National Theatre of Havana, where he will be accompanied by important local and foreign artists.
Varela will play anthological song s of his repertoire and also his latest hits and he will be accompanied by the Cuban Chamber Orchestra, and musicians of outstanding career in the country, said the artist's website.
In statements to the press the popular singer said the selection of the tracks to be played in the concert was difficult but also emotional because he will reappear on Cuban scene with emblematic hits like Monedas al aire that brings him back great memories.
I haven´t played most of these songs for years and I intend people to hear them again, because they have a great significance for several generations, they are part of their lives, he said.
The concert, which will be directed by maestro Aldo Lopez -Gavilan, and recorded and filmed by a Cuban-Canadian team and then will be part of a special TV show and a DVD that will be available on the market by mid 2013.
