Robert Kraft attends Cuba´s Festival of Young Filmmakers

Robert Kraft attends Cuba´s Festival of Young FilmmakersHAVANA, Cuba, Apr 2 (acn) The renowned American composer and former president of Fox Music, Robert Kraft, participates in collateral sessions of the 14th ICAIC Festival of Young Filmmakers, which will take place until Sunday in this city.

Kraft, nominated for an Oscar for co-writing the soundtrack for the film Mambo Kings, will teach today a workshop called Composing music for cinema: a challenge, where he will tell his experiences in Hollywood to the new generation of Cuban authors.

I hope to teach them on specific techniques about putting music to a film, something very different from just writing a song because inspiration comes, he told ACN.

Maybe I can teach them one or two things about what is needed to know when working in cinema or TV, where the main thing is to know that you should put your talents to the disposal of the director or producer, he said.

Kraft, who as president of Fox Music from 1994 to 2012, oversaw the music for over 300 films such as Avatar, Titanic, Moulin Rouge, Walk the Line, and Once, will also offer on Friday on Fresa y Chocolate cultural center a conference on music in the movies.

I will show examples of the films in which I've worked on how music changes a film, he said.

When asked if he believed that American filmmakers would be interested in working with their Cuban counterparts, he replied that he is looking for a story to film here.

This is a beautiful place to shoot a movie, and I'm sure there's a Cuban director with a good story which maybe I can produce, he added.
