HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 31 (acn) From today and until next April 5, the work of the new generation of Cuban filmmakers will reach Havana's movie theaters through the opening of the 14th ICAIC Young Sample.
Organized within the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC by its Spanish acronym), this event is made by and for young people, who for about six days will participate in a program that includes exhibitions, expos, workshops, debates, tribute tables and theoretical sessions .
A selection of paintings by Cuban Nicolás Guillén Landrián, at the lobby of Chaplin Cinema; the national premiere of La Obra del Siglo, Carlos M. Quintela´s second feature film, which places its story in Cienfuegos Nuclear City; and an opening ceremony in the evening, will be proposed for this opening day.
More than 70 works are part of the universe of the Sample, 47 of which are inscribed in the main competition and 15 in the eighth version of Haciendo Cine (Making Movies), kind of laboratory from where materials have competed at the same event have emerged.
The event will also show nine documentaries by Guillén Landrián (Camagüey, 1938 -Miami, 2003), a tribute to the master of audiovisual who still today shows validity and timeliness.
The Cuban Art Factory, Charlot Hall, Chaplin and 23 and 12 cinemas are some of the venues of the cinematic event, which also provides showings on a mobile cinema that will be installed on weekend at Mariana Grajales Park, in Vedado neighborhood.
