Salsa Festival elevates popular music, says Cuban musician

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 21 (ACN) Given the interest of young people in other musical genres far from the traditional ones, the IX Festival de la Salsa en Cuba 2025 comes to strengthen the roots of popular danceable rhythms and attract new generations to them, in the island nation.

Trombonist Eduardo Sandoval said exclusively to the Cuban News Agency, that the festival enhances the work and the reception of the domestic artists as it usually happens in the different world scenarios and that it is expected to be resumed in the country, when talking about popular music.

Sandoval thanked Maykel Blanco, president of the event, and all those who make this great dream possible.

He also emphasized that on this occasion he will share knowledge and experiences with the students of the art schools during the event.

Although in other editions the well-known jazzman had performed with Issac Delgado, Havana D'Primera and El Niño y la Verdad, last Thursday night he performed for the first time with his orchestra on the stage of the Festival de la Salsa en Cuba.

The festival, one of the most eagerly awaited events by the Caribbean nation's dancing public, will be held until February 23 at Club 500 and the Memories Miramar Habana Hotel.

The nights will be enlivened by Haila María Mompié, Monika Mesa, Manolín, el Médico de la Salsa; Paulito FG, Alexander Abreu y Havana D'Primera, Pedrito Martínez, Los Van Van, and the hosts, Maykel Blanco y su Salsa Mayor
