HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 19 (acn) Canadian autor and activist Nino Pagliccia expressed in Havana his gratefulness for having been able to launch his book entitled Solidarity with Cuba, in different provinces as part of the ongoing International Book Fair.
Pagliccia, an active supporter of friendship between Canada and Cuba, told ACN that his book, which was first published in December 2004, not only recalls the standing cooperation between the two countries but also stresses solidarity as a principle for all nations. The work encompasses testimonies of 13 authors on the links of friendship between the peoples of Canada and Cuba since the 1959 triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
The Canadian author stressed the active campaign that took place in his country for the return to Cuba of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters who are already here and the actions that activists there have carried out for the lifting of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade of the island and the withdrawal of Cuba from the US blacklist of countries sponsors of international terrorism.
Book co-author Lisa Makarchuk stressed the role of the Cuban government in its solidarity with other nations, which constitutes an example for the world, she said, and called for the further strengthening of friendship and the implementation of projects that may contribute to collaboration between nations.
The book launching was attended by officials with the Canadian embassy in Cuba, representatives of the Cuban Friendship Institute and from the Canada Studies Department at the University of Havana.
