HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 23 (ACN) On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the National Ballet of Cuba, the book Alicia y las Maravillas del .Revisitaciones desde la artisticidad(Alicia and the Wonders of the Ballet.New versions from the art), by Jorge Valiente and Sahily Tabares, published by ArteCubano Ediciones, will be presented on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 3:00 p.m. at the Fayis Jamis bookstore in Havana, Cuba.
During the event, journalist Sahily Tabares -co-author of the book-, photographer Humberto Mayol and art critic and editor Alain Cabrera, will talk with journalist and critic Fernando Rodriguez Sosa about this work.
The text presents a wide-ranging collection of photographs of Alicia Alonso, images accompanied by interesting assessments of the art of the former dancer, choreographer and teacher.
According to a statement issued by the Cuban Book Institute, Jorge Valiente, one of the best-known and most renowned contemporary Cuban photographers, treasures a work that, over half a century, bears witness to the political, social, artistic and cultural history of Cuba.
Alicia y las Maravillas del Ballet... -as curator and art critic Rafael Acosta de Arriba writes in the prologue to the volume- "is really a book made with four hands or, better expressed, with one hand and one eye, a book of two wills and a single protagonist, Alicia".
