HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 6 (acn) The Pablo de la Torriente Brau Cultural Center reiterated on Monday in this capital that the visit of renowned Argentinean singer-songwriter Leon Gieco and pianist Luis Gurevich has been postponed for later this year.
We are aware of the expectations their visit had awaken in the Cuban public, so we intend to continue working along with the Culture Ministry of Argentina and Leon Gieco's Office to confirm the final date, refers the institution on its Web site.
Considered to be one of the most important performers of his country and of Latin America, Leon Gieco began his artistic career in 1973. He combines folk music with Argentinean rock, and his lyrics have social and political connotation, in favor of human rights, farmers and natives; in support of the disabled; and in solidarity with deprived elements of society.
This legend of Argentinean folk music has recorded over 40 albums and around 300 songs.
