Lázaro Saavedra to Receive the Cuba´s 2014 National Arts AwardHAVANA, Cuba, Dec 16 (acn) The artist Lázaro Saavedra will receive tomorrow the 2014 National Arts Award at a ceremony, at three in the afternoon, at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana.

The work of this creator is distinguished by conceptualism with humor and irony; in the 1980s, he was protagonist of Cuban art movement visual panorama in that stage as member of PURE Group and for three decades has developed a very diverse work in relation to the means of expression.

This recognition of his career is also due to his outstanding pedagogical work in the formation of generations of Cuban art students and his work recognized both nationally and abroad.

This time the jury that decided the granting of that prize was chaired by Eduardo Ponjuán, 2013 National Arts Award, and made up by the also national awards of Plastic. Arts: Osneldo García, Pedro Pablo Oliva, René de la Nuez, Jose Villa, Nelson Domínguez, Ernesto Fernández Nogueras and Ever Fonseca.

The jury also included the artists Iván Capote, Abel Barreto and Abel Barroso; Manuel López Oliva ( Critics Award for Work of Life), and the art critics María de los Ángeles Pereira, David Mateo and Axel Li

Other nominees for this prize in 2014 were José Antonio Choy, Lesbia Vent Dumois, Salvador Corratgé, Zaida del Rio, Roberto Salas, Juan Moreira, Pedro de Oráa, José Manuel Fors, Alberto Lescay , Alexis Leyva Machado ( Kcho), Eduardo Roca (Choco), Manuel Hernández Valdés, Rafael Zarza and Rocío García.
