CIEGO DE AVILA, Cuba, Apr 27 (ACN) With a master class by Paraguayan researcher Amalia Gamarra, began today in Ciego de Avila the 1st edition of the International Day of Dancing at Home, which until May 1st will promote the traditional dances of the province's peasants.
Participants in the event will exchange about the semiotics of dance, the development of this artistic manifestation in Latin America and its perception by the public, in lectures to be given by Mexican researchers Maria de Lourdes Fernandez and Javier Contreras.
Different activities and workshops will be held, such as a dance marathon featuring numerous groups and companies from the region, as well as debates on the local peasant dances, within the framework of a theoretical-practical workshop coordinated by Angel Omar Moran, veteran cultural promoter and art instructor.
To celebrate International Dance Day, on April 29, the event will organize the theoretical meeting "Dancing in Cuba Today", a space to analyze the new trends in the current scenic representation.
The participants will exchange experiences and knowledge with the dance faculty of the Ñola Sahig Sainz Provincial School of Art and will dedicate part of the day to paying tribute to groups and personalities who are outstanding in the promotion of cultural traditions of the province.
