HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 4 (acn) A team of over 10 executives of the New York Broadway Theater is in this capital to share, free of charge, its expertise with young talents to revive the genre in Cuba, with the mise en scene of the famous piece Rent.
Gisela Gonzalez, president of the National Council of Performing Arts, highlighted that this co-production and its sequels are invaluable for Cuba, that it will be premiered on December 24 at the Tito Junco Hall of the Bertolt Bretch Cultural Complex, and that it will have a two-month run.
She expressed her satisfaction for this joint work and pointed out that it will be essential for the future of the island's musical theater to have a team of young talents trained by specialists of the Meca of that stage genre.
Andy Señor Jr., artistic director of this production, born in Miami from Cuban parents, is linked to Rent since its premiere in 1997, first as an actor and later as associate artistic director.
In statements to ACN, he stressed that this is the most important thing that has happened in his life, which he conceives always associated to musical theater, and said that starting this movement in Havana and leave that legacy to youngsters is incredible and that he feels tremendously amazed and happy.
