HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 6 (ACN) In his first work Dioses de México [Gods of Mexico], screenwriter, producer and filmmaker Helmut Dosantos pays homage to the diverse indigenous and Afro-descendant communities of this sister nation in the context of the 43rd International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, held in Havana.
Dosantos, who has also worked as a photographer, founded the independent film production companies Fulgora Frango (Mexico) and Narvalus Films (USA).
Dioses… shows different worlds of rural Mexico engaged in a struggle to resist modernization, which threatens to take over its natural wealth and cultural identity, and pays tribute to ways of life worth preserving and remembered in a way that moviegoers can easily understand.
Film critics point out that the landscapes captured by the cameras and their moving photographs highlight the natural diversity of the country and the daily work of the Mexican communities in which the true gods of Mexico rise.
