CIENFUEGOS, Cuba, Nov 12 (acn) The 5th Surimagen International Day begins today and will run until November 17 in Cienfuegos, this time is devoted to Ecuador.
About 15 Ecuadorian and Cuban samples classified into short, feature and documentary films will be presented in cinemas of the territory with the aim of disseminating Latin American reality.
Arely Marrero Cuellar, communication specialist and member of the festival organizing committee, told ACN that this edition pays a tribute to Cuban filmmaker Santiago Alvarez, founder of ICAIC Latin American Newsreel.
The Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Film Institute, the Provincial Film Center and the Association of Cuban Writers and Artists in the province sponsor this event which for the first time has an international character, although the awards ceremony is expected for October 2015, Marrero Cuellar said.
Theoretical spaces for critical debate on the artistic performance by the creators of the works will also take place among other collateral activities of the event.
