Ballet Hispanico of New York Makes its Debut in Cuba on SaturdayHAVANA, Cuba, Nov 1 (acn) The Ballet Hispanico of New York will make its debut in Cuba on Saturday, as part of the 34th edition of Havana's International Ballet Festival, with a performance at 5:00 p.m. at the capital's Mella Theater.

The troupe's presentation includes the choreographies Asuka, by Eduardo Vilaro; Sortijas, by Cayetano Soto; Sombrerisimo, by Annabelle Lopez; and El beso, by Gustavo Ramirez.

The Ballet Hispanico of New York was founded by Venezuelan-American ballerina and choreographer Tina Ramirez in 1970 to reflect the experiences of Hispanic and Latin American artists, and has performed in the United States, Europe and South America.

The troupe's repertoire includes some 75 pieces by about 45 choreographers from around the world. It has received The National Medal of Arts and excels for the versatility of its interpreters in ballet, modern dance, jazz, ethnical dances and other techniques.
