1st Intl. Radio and Television Convention Inaugurated in HavanaHAVANA, Cuba, Oct 20 (acn) The exchange of experiences and the establishment of bases for effective cooperation between public media are among the main objectives of the 1st International Radio and Television Convention inaugurated in Monday at Havana's Convention Center.

The vice-president of the Cuban Radio and Television Institute and president of the Convention, Omar Olazabal, welcomed the over 600 participants of 27 countries attending the meeting, dedicated to youngsters on this occasion.

During the opening session, attended by Abel Prieto, advisor to the President of the councils of State and Ministers, Olazabal said that, as part of the program, a meeting of young producers will take place, which will include panels and workshops on topics like the process of structural changes Cuban television is undergoing.

The Convention will run until October 24, during which winners of the national festivals of radio and television will be handed over, and there will be screenings of materials competing in this Convention at Havana's La Rampa and Infanta movie theaters.

Standing out among nations, radio and television stations invited to the meeting are delegations of Argentina, Brazil, Angola, Ecuador and the Al Mayadeen channel.
