U.S. pianist Performs at Havana's Leo Brouwer FestivalHAVANA, Cuba, Oct 9 (acn) A connection between the classic and the postmodern was the concert given on Tuesday by U.S. pianist Jenny Q Chai, who through a recital full of originality and concepts showed the best of her art to the Cuban public.

On the occasion of the 6th edition of Havana's Leo Brouwer Chamber Music Festival, under way at the capital's Marti Theater, the instrumentalist of Chinese origin arrived for the first time in Cuba to pay tribute to Canadian musicologist and composer Colin McPhee, on the 50 th anniversary of his death.
In the first part of her presentation, with a repertoire of excellence, Q Chai interpreted pieces by Claude Debussy, Charles Ives and Victoria Jordanova, recreated from an antiwar perspective.
In her demonstration of skill and interpretative creativity, she was accompanied in special moments by maestro Leo Brouwer, the Chamber Orchestra of Havana and flutist Niurka Gonzalez.
Jenny Q Chai is a champion of contemporary music, which handless the impressionistic mists of Debussy with the same ease she interprets postmodern pieces, asserted maestro Brouwer during the introduction of the U.S. artist.
